The '882' head was a later head (1975 or later) and proved over time to be not so good a head, as many you might take to a head shop for work would prove to be cracked...

Do you need 'accessory bolt holes' in the ends of the heads or not? early versions had no accessory holes, later version castings did have.

Do you want/need 1.94"' or 2.02" intake valve sizes?

What combustion chamber volume do you desire (to achieve proper compression ratio with your pistons?)..?

I have one or more pairs of 1969 dated '186' heads that have been rebuilt and never used (because I found 'better dates' for my original engine). Mine have 2.02" intakes and 64 cc combustion chambers and accessory holes. I spent approx. $800 per pair at Southern Cylinder Head and engine shop (Huntsville, AL) in getting them checked and rebuilt - new guides and valves with new valve job and 'screw in studs'. I would sell you a pair of these for $1000 plus shipping (or you can come pick up in Harvest, AL)...

My numbers match 1974 Z28 Type LT, 4 speed car has 882 castings with 2.02/ 1.60 valves with screw on studs & guideplates. This motor has flat top forged single valve relief forged pistons and makes 9-1 with the 76cc heads. All other 350s except L-82 Vette 350s that year had cast dish pistons.

I do have some fresh 462 Camel humps updated to 2.02/1.60s with studs and guideplates. These have no accessory holes. I have about 600 dollars in parts and machine work in them. I went with aftermarket Aluminum camel humps on my 327.

My 1970 LT-1 with 11:1 forged pistons has the angle-plug "Turbo heads" with 2.02 intakes, guide plates etc. It has the camel humps on the ends and accessory holes. This engine makes great power all around. I bought it in 1989 for $1000 with zero miles. This was an over-the-counter LT-1 short block, and the angle plug heads were sold separate which were not available on the production LT-1. I think the solid lifter came is different too. Cars purchased new at dealer did not have those heads so who cares.

I put a set of those 'turbo' heads as described by RD on a '69 Z28 302 I rebuilt back in 1976... They were more powerful than any other head I'd used (~ 25 hp better than the stock '186' head on my engine). The only real visible difference once installed is the plug angle which can be a problem depending on the headers you're using.

They were a production head offered by Chevrolet in 1973 as a heavy-duty service part. P/N 3965784, with a casting #340292 I believe.

Yes a service part never a production head. By 73 Z28s had 76 cc heads.
